_____________ que leí en un libro de Mariano Perero (Historia e historias de matemáticas. Grupo Editorial Iberoamérica. México, 1994.) hace siglos y cuyos orígenes acabo de desmitificar en estos días. Voy a dejar aquí la referencia exacta por dos razones: una, necesito comparar mi interpretación de la primera línea de la frase con alguien más; dos, quiero tenerla a la mano por aquello de los debates que se suelen suscitar con el Infinitum que en Gaussianos tanto se tiende a mencionar:
"... The membership of Bourbaki seems to vary between 10 and 20. With one conspicuous exception all the members have always been French. The exception is Samuel Eilenberg (originally from Warsaw, now at Columbia University). Known to the friends of his youth as S2P2 (for Smart Sammy the Polish Prodigy), Eilenberg is a charming extrovert who learned more about the U.S. within six months of his arrival than most Americans ever find out. (One of the first things he did was to go on an extended hitchhiking tour.)
